Transformation through pressure

Year: 2016 - 2017

Technique: Various

The backyard-building where I worked many years in Elbestrasse, Berlin Neukölln has a brick alike façade. On every brick there is a ceramic layer with subtle cracks – always different.

The physics of pressure

Year: 2016 - 2017

I traced one of the bricks to experiment with that Craquelé texture. Some few details I changed a little by reason of composition.

The beauty of pressure

Year: 2017

The next picture shows an inversion of the Craquelé texture and filled plains with a golden shade of colour. I imagine it could work really fine for some decorative purpose.

Playful composing in traces of pressure

Year: 2017

I filled the plains between the cracks with few colors. It could be a sun shining cliff scenery at open sea with branches looming from the side. This color filling technique stimulates imagination. The composition and content limitations are on my opinion too strong and the following picture resembles mosaic works or a software filter. The focus leaves from the main idea of showing pressure.

Pressure purified

Year: 2016

The broken and seemingly repaired streetskating-skateboard motive. I considered mainly about Kintsugi, the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with golden lacquer. The breakage is a part of the history of the object and no devaluation. My decision was to use silver instead of gold for a faked Kintsugi-appearance because of the better contrast to the wood. Partly I've drawn the before shown Craquelé structure on the skateboard, but I also followed the original wood grain and kept free decisions.
